US President Donald Trump, in a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressed his intention to sign an agreement with Iran within a few days, reports Axios. «This is an agreement. It’s a great agreement, and it’s time to end this war,» the publication quotes Trump, citing a senior American official.

According to Axios journalist Barak Ravid, Netanyahu was surprised by the news of the impending agreement. The Israeli Prime Minister was not directly involved in the negotiations and sought information from his allies in Washington about the progress of the US-Iran talks.

Israeli officials expressed concern about the content of the deal but are avoiding public criticism. Netanyahu’s office previously confirmed the conversation with Trump about the developing memorandum of understanding with Iran, which could serve as a basis for further negotiations. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation to Trump for including provisions in the final agreement concerning the removal of enriched material and restrictions on missile production.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the memorandum could be signed remotely within a few days if the negotiations are successfully concluded. He noted that the parties are closer to an agreement than ever.

Mohsen Rezaee, former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and military advisor to Iran’s supreme leader, reported that Trump decided to unblock frozen Iranian assets amounting to $24 billion but is currently unwilling to announce this decision publicly.
